The century homes on streets like Church Street, Wellington, and Nelson Street West were built with plaster and lath, and most have had at least one drywall retrofit somewhere along the way. Blending new drywall into surviving plaster is delicate work — the two materials sit at different depths and finish differently under paint. We handle those transitions with a full skim coat of the surrounding plaster so the wall reads as one continuous surface.
Older Downtown Brampton homes also see a lot of settlement cracks, especially in second-storey ceilings and above door frames. The house has done most of its moving decades ago, but if a previous repair used mesh tape or caulk instead of properly bedded paper tape, the crack comes back every winter. We cut those repairs back to solid material and re-do them the right way — once.
For the newer condos and lofts along Main Street North and the Gage Park perimeter, our work is mostly interior repaints, feature walls, and drywall repair after tenant turnover. Concrete-slab ceilings in some of the older converted buildings mean we can't just patch and paint — we walk each unit with the owner before quoting.
